Where do you put your tiny home?

Did you know that tiny homes on wheels are not regulated by the planning and zoning department? Some people are living on them on their property or lot, but it’s actually not legal to do that.

Legally, a tiny house on wheels is considered an RV, and a tiny house on a foundation is considered an accessory dwelling unit. You may need to register your tiny home on wheels with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) as a recreational vehicle and obtain a license plate (this process is subject to inspection).

Building a tiny home on a foundation or slab may be your best option if you are planning on making it your permanent home.
